Fort Worth
It's been a few days since my last post and we've been in Fort Worth the whole time so I'll just put everything in one post.
We're staying in a luxurious set of cabins at Camp Carter. Unfortunately we can't use the pool, the obstacle course, the canoes, or the equestrian center but the view is certainly nice. Our cabin sits right on the lake and has a beautiful sunset.
Friday night we took part in the Fort Worth Critical Mass ride. For those who don't know, a critical mass ride is an event where a large group of riders go on a ride through the city in hopes of raising awareness of bicycles on the road. Currently drivers in Fort Worth aren't very cycling conscious as we've seen a bit ourselves in the past couple of days. Afterwards a few of the guys in the ride took us all out for a drink at a local brewery.
Saturday was a very relaxing day. I slept till 10:00 and rolled into the afternoon. In the evening we went to the Fort Worth Stockyards for some authentic Texas Barbecue, followed by the rodeo. Liz, Rachel, and Jess ended up being picked out of the crowd for a dancing contest, where they publicly embarrassed themselves (Liz won).
It is now Sunday. We were supposed to have a solidarity ride this afternoon, but due to a downpour of rain it has been canceled. Tonight we're off to Dallas where we'll pick up Tomi, a rider joining us for a portion of our trip.
